I have Sid Meier's pirates! PC best buy, and i have installed and re-installed many times.

Problem is; when i start it, the patcher comes up and i agree and everything... then it says: Update Successful! but when i scroll down in the list of things that was updated it says: Assets\Shaders\FX\Townsneak\Blue_1_1.fx: cannot remove, denied access
atari.url: cannot remove, denied access

I would love some help and stuff please assist!

It might have something to do with where you're getting the patch from. Or it maybe that you're getting patch 1.02 instead of patch 1.02c. (Don't ask me what the difference is between the two. But generally, anything that was changed later takes care of _more_ problems, which is a Good Thing.)

Part of the problem is that any version that is still available is most likely a modified version that combines the original two CD disks onto just one DVD disk. That inadvertently created some issues/errors because the original code had some specific calls for Disk 2. (Which is where I think the "c" came from in 1.02c.)

My initial suggestion is to try installing a patch 1.02c from a different source. Here's an alternative source:
