So I've been searching and searching and searching for anybody with the same problem as me, no such luck. I am using a desktop computer, love the game, but one problem, the game automatically disables the NumLock on the Merc Stealth keyboard http://www.topreview...ealth_Right.jpg actual view of the numpad. So in other words the game movement controls don't work, I've tried and failed to re-map the controls to the main body of the keyboard. Please help

Stupid question on my part: Are you sure that the NumLock button is off? Some people have had a problem in that at startup, the Numlock would get set for some mysterious reason.

Alternate suggestion: Do you have another keyboard available? Just swap out keyboards (cheap ones for less than $20 are available most anywhere) and see if the problem is indeed in your Merc Stealth keyboard.

Yes I'm sure its off, no I don't have a spare, and I'm pretty sure that it isn't my keyboard since the NumLock light stays on in all other games except Pirates.

Bleah. As far as I can tell, the problem is that your keyboard is a bit more "busy" than what SMP was ever designed/tested for. The additional gaming features have thrown off the compatibility. If there were drivers involved, I'd say they need to be updated, but that still wouldn't tell SMP how to cope with an input device more complex than what it expects. The proof in the pudding is that the keyboard works fine with everything else, but not with SMP. (Right?)

Just to verify, you've installed the patch 1.02c, right? It fixed a number of known issues, but it was also a general update of most of the game's drivers, including input devices. Here's one source for the patch: http://www.mastertro...ort.asp?pid=555 (It's a link in the middle question in the FAQs.)

If your Operating System is Vista, it adds a whole 'nother level of complexity to the issue because SMP was written primarily for XP, and the Vista XP-emulator mode is somewhat glitchy. (There's some driver complications in the translation.)

Last gasp I-don't-know-what-else-to-try thing to do is to re-install the Merc Stealth keyboard software. Sometimes other programs you run will tweak the input device drivers to optimize performance for themselves, but then create issues with older programs.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

So the patch did not fix the issues with the keypad however as I had learned late last night, it did in fact allow the key bind configurations to actually take effect so, thanks a lot for the help
