For that matter, I have fournd NO benefits in dealing with the Indian Chiefs and Abbots, AT ALL, except for getting quicker promotions for killing indian war parties, and escorting parties of new settlers to the cities of a given country. The only reason I've found to even TALK with a Indian chief, is to underhandedly tell him to attack a town, so he will send war parties out, that you, in turn, can attack !! The Abbots, too, can save you 1,000 gold, by telling you where Baron Raymondo is, instead of having to pay the mysterious stranger for the info. Also, the Abbot can talk with a town governor and persuade him to let you enter the town.

These are the ONLY benefis I've found in dealing with Abbots and Indian Chiefs, and i've found NO benefit in obtaining items that will please them !! Has ANYONE found other benefits to the items or in dealing with Abbots and Indian Chiefs ?

I bought the PC version "Disc Only", and it came without instructions. I can't seem to find instructions for the PC version, anywhere, either.

You help would be GREATLY appreciated.

When I try to run the game, I get the message: unable to initialize directx. I had the game installed and running on this system (an older Acer laptop running Win XP). I have turned off sound acceleration, added it to my firewall program list, and have changed everything in the config.ini that might affect performance, but nothing works.

I have the 1.02 DVD version.

Are there any later patches?

What can I put for the "3DAudioDriver = " line in the config.ini?

I have a Dell 1501 laptop with XP SP3, ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 and 2 gigs of ram.

I installed 1.02c, for no effect.

*UPDATE* I reinstalled and rebooted everything. I don't have the flashing issue any more, but it sure does crash alot.
